And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

A follow up on heaven
When I awaken in the next world, to the next life, there are a few things that will be different, but at the same time very similar in certain ways.
First, the tepee
Yours truly
The faithful stead.
And away we go!
This will bring a smile to your face
Plus, what you see here will explain an awful lot about how our leader handles things.
This was apparently filmed in a private gym while the ONE was in Poland. I'll bet he never lets this happen again.
Come on, 'Boma, put down those girl weights and come on over and do some manly squats. Do you even lift? Maybe you could handle, oh, 50, or 60 pounds of rusty iron and bar.
Ace's commenter Kreplach puts it well:
There exists footage of George W Bush wading into a scrum in South America to pull his own secret service agent to safety.
Footage exists of Ronald Reagan riding horses on his own ranch, others of chain saw in hand cutting brush.
Obama?
Girly weights and riding a bicycle in mom jeans.
Our enemies laugh.
Speaking of which, a real President goes for it. Watch and learn how it's done.
Lake Superior, or Greenland
Local news reports that there is still plenty of ice in Lake Superior as of June 1st. Some predict it might last until July.
Another nail in the coffin of anthropogenic global warming.
Ancient Sumerians - the original code writers
The list blends prehistorical, presumably mythical predynastic rulers with implausibly lengthy reigns with later, more plausibly historical dynasties. Although the primal kings are historically unattested, this does not preclude their possible correspondence with historical rulers who were later mythicized. Some Assyriologists view the predynastic kings as a later fictional addition.
Only one ruler listed is known to be female: Kug-Bau "the (female) tavern-keeper", who alone accounts for the Third Dynasty of Kish. The earliest listed ruler whose historicity has been archaeologically verified is En-me-barage-si of Kish, ca. 2600 BC. Reference to this individual in the Epic of Gilgamesh has led to speculation that Gilgamesh himself may be historical.
Three dynasties are notably excluded from the list: the Larsa dynasty, which vied for power with the (included) Isin dynasty during the Isin-Larsa period; and the two dynasties of Lagash, which respectively preceded and ensued the Akkadian Empire, when Lagash exercised considerable influence in the region. Lagash in particular is known directly from archaeological artifacts dating from ca. 2500 BC.
Now this is a fisherman's tale, although who was fishing for who is another question.
As it hurtled downwards it bent the bow rails, smashed through the windscreen, destroyed the radio communications console – and then its sharp bill lanced the left upper torso of Collingwood as well as the upper left chest and shoulder of Clouws “in a sosatie-type effect”.
“Both crewmen had ducked to avoid the fish, and thankfully so, as they both narrowly escaped life-threatening injuries as both these puncture wounds were close to their heart and lung areas,” said Gieseler.
Both the anglers were pinned against the back motor roll bar over the side of the vessel."
Only four were quick enough to survive.
Looked at from another perspective, why didn't anyone think that the wood deck wasn't built to handle that many people? Did not that reality suggest to at least one of them that they shouldn't all crowd out there? I'll bet they are all city folk, unused to having to make those kinds of judgements.

Just another injection of much needed global warming.
An Alaska volcano that has been spewing ash and lava for years began erupting with new intensity this week, pushing a plume of smoke and ash as high as 24,000 feet (7,315 meters) and prompting scientists to issue their highest volcanic alert in five years, authorities said on Tuesday.
Geologists first issued the alert late on Monday. Since then plumes reached as high as 24,000 feet (7,315 meters) on Tuesday morning.
Plumes are created when lava bursts from the crater of the 8,261-foot (2,517-meter) volcano, then falls back on glacier ice, Coombs said.
"Right now, with the weather clear, it's just putting on a good show," Coombs said. "We're getting a lot of pilot reports and a lot of good photos, so we're able to keep a good eye on it."
