Can the incompetence of the Democrats reach a lower level?

At a DNC tribute to veterans, the big screen in the background displayed a string of impressive warships.

Trouble is, they are easily recognizable as Russian warships, to Navy men, and specifically ships from the Black Sea fleet.

If that was really an error.

And we want these same people to run our healthcare?  God help us.

Meanwhile, in other news:

Mimicking their Islamist brethren in Egypt, and no doubt egged on by the State Department's flaccid, weakling response, the same group of people have looted and burned the American embassy in Benghazi, Libya, in the process killing at least one American.   Looks like they really appreciate our efforts to throw out Ghaddafi, especially because we jumped in at the exact moment his henchmen were about to overrun that town.

And does Obama realize the similarities between these actions and those in Iran during the administration of the previous worst president ever?  It is downright eerie, but I'm sure that our genius leader knows nothing about those days, since at the time he was busy being tutored in America hating by Bill Ayers and Frank Marshall Davis, and had no time to study real history.

Being in New York for a UN function, Prime Minister Netanyahu has requested a meeting with President Obama, probably to discuss something important, like the impending annihilation of Iran, Isreal, or both, using nuclear weapons, with who knows what collateral damage to the surrounding peoples.

The Lightbringer's response?

Get out, no meeting with you.

I can't decide who is stupider, Biden or Obama.  This is in fact so irresponsible, considering the circumstances, that it beggars belief.

Meanwhile, in other news:

Islamists storm the US embassy in Cairo, tear down the US flag, and replace it with the Muslim Brotherhood's black flag.

O brother Muslims, please know that in the US, we too have a product called Black Flag, but it is used to wipe out vermin like cockroaches and spiders, which you appear to be.  Make your decisions accordingly.

For the rest of us non Muslims, recall that the Obama administration has told us repeatedly that the Muslim Brotherhood are moderates.   Why anyone believes anything that comes out of this administration is beyond me.

Another tocsin of impending economic disaster, brought to you by the representatives that you elected to power.  All we have to do is glance over the pond, to our friends in Greece, Spain and Italy, to see our future.

CNSNews.com) - According to the most recent official estimate by the federal Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Gross Domestic Product for 2012 will be $15.6061 trillion--or about $440.5 billion less than the $16.0466 in debt that the federal government had accumulated as of the close of business on Monday.
In other words, the debt is now approximately 103 percent of GDP.
The BEA, which is part of the Department of Commerce and which officially calculates GDP, based its current estimate of this year's GDP, published on Aug. 29, on economic data available through the end of the second quarter of this calender year.
If that current estimate is correct, the debt of the United States government eclipsed the value of the Gross Domestic Product of the United States on April 2 of this year.

In support of the seriousness of the matter is this news today:

Moody's expects to cut the United States debt rating unless Congress cuts a deal to lower the debt to GDP ratio, exactly what this administration won't seriously contemplate.  Don't listen to the spin about raising taxes, as he can't raise enough on the backs of the rich to even dent the debt, and he can't politically raise taxes on the middle class, at least before the election.  And consider the effect on the economy of pounding new taxes onto a populace already struggling to get by in what for all practical purposes is another recession.

Pssst!  The problem isn't that taxes are too low, it's that spending is too high.  Even if the government could get it's hands on new tax money, it would simply spend that immediately, leaving the same problem.
Like Kate says over at Small Dead Animals, this is the point where we juxtapose:

GM loses 49,000 dollars on every Volt it sells, say analysts.

The Pentagon is buying GM's Chevy Volt in order to "green up" the military.  They have a goal of buying 1500.  Based on the above estimates, that alone will cost GM 73,500,00 dollars.  Sounds like a great way to put the company back in bankruptcy just to comply with someone's idea of political correctness.  A government run car company, especially one run by Chicago politicians, is a continuing disaster, and should never have been allowed.

Further, is it a good thing to be making decisions on what the military needs to protect the country based on the illusion of "green" energy?  Once you cross that Rubicon, what else will fall to the tyrants of green?  Electric tanks?  Bean  bag shooting rifles (ask the border patrol about that one)?

Ugh.  As Kate said, it's a giant snowball of stupid. Complete corruption all around.

Update: GM disputes the number, claiming that development costs must be spread out over the entire production run, not just the cars that have already sold. However, with sales being subsidized by military purchases, which in reality is simply more public money being thrown after bad, and the plant that makes the Volt idled later this year for slow sales, how much of a legitimate production run will that really be?
A small start up company is attempting to build cheaper batteries to support micro-grids, the kind of small scale electric grid the can combine electricity from multiple sources.  To date, such micro-grids are used only for remote villages, and are limited by the cost and short life of the batteries.  This company thinks it can make batteries for about the same cost of conventional, but with a much longer life.

More power (sic) to them!

And notice how this pioneering effort is private, and requires no public money, unlike dirty crony deals like Solyndra and their brethern.

I for one would consider organizing a micro-grid like this for my neighborhood, as long as it could provide even a bit cheaper power.  Given the size of my power bill lately, I think that it couldn't be to hard to beat the power company's price.

Below one of the owners demonstrates how the batteries can be stacked to build the exact size needed to store the electricity.

The Bush administration did it's part to break things as well, but oddly, Obama quadrupled down on most Bush policies, and compounded the damage.

Amazing shot by Tobias Roetsch

Brain dead tourists pester a buffalo until it charges them.  Someone shouts, "run, Justin, run!" Little Justin is then filmed running for his life, while the parents laugh, apparently thinking this is a big joke.

A motivated buffalo can reach a speed of 30 miles per hour, meaning even Usain Bolt might not get away.

If that little kid had tripped or been too slow, he'd be pressed two feet into the ground and dead.  Some people are just unbelievably stupid.

Teachers these days.

A 16% raise over four years isn't enough, but maybe if they got more they could learn to spell "neiborhood."

Retards are literally in charge of our public education.

I say armor these up and send them into Pakistan to kill Taliban.  I bet those brave if hairy dudes would be surrendering en masse before long.

Our masterful president, so intelligent that he needs, lately at least, to personally attend only a third of his presidential daily briefings, where the latest intelligence on threats to the country are presented.

"President Obama is touting his foreign policy experience on the campaign trail, but startling new statistics suggest that national security has not necessarily been the personal priority the president makes it out to be. It turns out that more than half the time, the commander in chief does not attend his daily intelligence meeting.
The Government Accountability Institute, a new conservative investigative research organization, examined President Obama’s schedule from the day he took office until mid-June 2012, to see how often he attended his Presidential Daily Brief (PDB) — the meeting at which he is briefed on the most critical intelligence threats to the country. During his first 1,225 days in office, Obama attended his PDB just 536 times — or 43.8 percent of the time. During 2011 and the first half of 2012, his attendance became even less frequent — falling to just over 38 percent. By contrast, O"

The article goes on to state the claim that the president actually reads the briefing every day, but really, how do we know he really does that?  My take is that he blows it off, and goes golfing.
Mondays, they're like that.
