This one's for Irish.

Yosemite this afternoon.

Fall is coming

A happy little anecdote from the comments over at FoxNation.

50 dollar lesson:

"I recently asked my friends' little girl what she wanted to bewhen she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both ofher parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?She replied, I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people. Her parents beamed with pride.Wow...what a worthy goal. I told her, But you don't have towait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house. She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked mestraight in the eye and asked, Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?I said, Welcome to the Republican Party. Her parents still aren't speaking to me."

Democrats at the DNC drink the Kool aid .... or is that kook aid?

Only Van Jones is savvy enough to avoid getting into it with Peter Schiff, while the rest of the delegates are so out of it that they would happily support a ban or cap on corporate profits.

Watch and shake your head in disbelief.

The Burning Man festival just wrapped up out on the Black Rock Desert in Nevada.

50,000 people showed up.  This looks like some kind of space port from Star Wars.

Holy chit!  This is just scary!

Where is Captain Jack Sparrow when you need him?

Lasers, they are always good, until someone loses an eye!

Chased past he moon by a sky shark.  So very burning man.

The man burns on September first.

Continuing my quest to bring totally offbeat stuff to The Timewaster, this is the number one song on Swedish itunes.   I could hang with these people.

Hey, Obama, You didn't fill that!!

Democrats are forced to move their leader's grand speech from the 74,000 capacity stadium to one with 20,000 capacity, supposedly because of weather concerns.

Wait a minute, rain wasn't a problem in October of 2008, was it?  Not in July 2012, or in September 2012.

Can't fill that!  That does look gigantic, kind of like Dear Leader's ego. Time to downsize.

Too many just like this

From whom Chicago could learn alot!

So true.

Which is why we have to take it to both of them this time.

too funny

There has been a lot of talk on the internet about what seems to be an increase in police on citizen violence, but what about harrassment of people the cops don't agree with politically?

Check out this article showing that if you are a city councilman who falls on the wrong side of the police union's lust for money, you might find you and your neighbors experiencing some "unpleasantness," to say the least.

What's to stop this from escalating into being framed for a crime?

Roosevelt was right, the very idea of a public labor union is a disaster waiting to happen.

Should you be worried about hurricanes? To find out, it is useful to know where hurricanes have gone in the past. The above Earth map shows the path of every hurricane reported since 1851, Although striking, a growing incompleteness exists in the data the further one looks back in time. The above map graphically indicates that hurricanes -- sometimes called cyclones or typhoons depending on where they form -- usually occur over water, which makes sense since evaporating warm water gives them energy. The map also shows that hurricanes never cross -- or even occur very near -- the Earth's equator, since the Coriolis effect goes to zero there, and hurricanes need the Coriolis force to circulate. The Coriolis force also causes hurricane paths to arc away from the equator.
The only thing missing are freckles

Next term, this will be Obama's first Supreme Court appointment.

That's why this is the most important election in a hundred years at least.
