Mondays, they're like that.

Remember when global warming prophet of doom Al Gore claimed that the polar ice caps would be a thing of the past?  Well, Al, get a load of this:

When I saw this sign, I have to admit that I involuntarily reached down and checked that my scrod was still there, and hadn't been secretly removed, boned and broiled, for the pleasure of someone else's consumption!

Don't know how serious this is, as I don't know much about the website reporting this, but if it is true that Alabama has put a hold on Obama's ability to register to run for president in that state until he can prove that he is legally and constitutionally eligible, then that should prove interesting indeed.

Legally speaking, if he is found to have always been ineligible to be president, what would become of the laws he signed while acting as president?

But Obama wouldn't hide something from the public if he thought they wouldn't like it, would he?

There will be hundreds of collector cars going up for auction at Barrett-Jackson this month, but few will be as interesting as this custom creation nicknamed the "Lockheed Lakester". The car, registered for road use as a 1917 Crow Lakester Custom, was hand-built from the wing tip tank of a Lockheed Super Constellation and uses a mix of automotive and aircraft parts. Wedged inside the tank is a 1.8-liter turbocharged Hemi four-cylinder mated to a five-speed manual transmission.  Here, you are looking at the rear of the car, not the front.  An amazing piece of automotive art.  More below

Leann Rimes performs a stunningly simple and moving version of Amazing Grace.
A pal of mine kindly offered to help me entertain the two girls today, while the wife and son were off to the Bay Area.  Since he has a plane, the plan was to fly them up to Yosemite and see what could be seen.  Here the pilot goes through the pre flight check list while the girls pose.

Acting at ease with the air ship.  The flight left from the Columbia Airport, and from there it was only a few minutes to the park.

The insanely complicated instrument panel.  Good thing somebody knew what they were doing!

Soon, the valley hove into view.  Here you are looking south east up Yosemite Valley toward Half Dome.  That is the Sierra crest in the distance.

Now, over the back side of the dome, to the west back down the world famous valley.  The plan was to continue over the top to circle Mono Lake, and come back, but the little plane was buffeted cruelly by the playful air currents, causing more than a bit of air sickness, in spite of the view.  Therefore it was back to Columbia, and Mono Lake will have to wait for a calmer day.

It was an incredibly fun time for the girls, doing something they never would do otherwise.  Thanks Dan for taking them on such a great flight!  They will never forget the fun they had today!
Tonight is Christmas in the Ukraine, believe it or not. Think, if you marry a Ukrainian chick, you can have the usual Christmas on December 25th, and then another one on January 7th!  A kid's dream come true, and you got a ready made excuse to leave the lights up a couple more weeks.

How about a family rafting trip this summer?  Sounds kinda cool, especially if you combine it with a raft trip down the Green River in the American south west, for example.  Now that would be an double adventure!

Sit back and enjoy.
