And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
ahh the good ole days of Service Stations. When you pulled in and ran over that black hose and it dinged, a couple men in uniforms ran out and pumped your gas, checked your oil, and battery fluid, power steering and automatic transmission fluid if you had those, your fan belt(s) and air filter, window washer fluid and wipers, checked your tire tread and pressure, washed your windows and if they were really professionals had you lift up your feet and vacuumed your floors and ashtrays. Even checked your head lights, running lights, brake lights and turn signals. All with a smile and for less than 25cents a gallon for the fuel. I remember 17 cents a gallon in Oklahoma around the time I got my drivers license
People didn't do shit like that then. If the dealer forgot to put the rack inside the garage at closing time, better than even money it would all still be there in the morning.
Dad was a part owner of a station, 50's or 60's? Nearly new car was left for servicing of some sort. Street person got inside before the summer weekend (cars those days weren't often locked), and died. Discovered a few days later. Smell couldn't be removed. Car was scrapped. Philly area.
Hated to see the old gas stations disappear.
