And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
At first that necked down, blunt nosed cartridge looked like it might be a .348 like my Winchester model 71 uses, but then I saw the straight stock and figured it's a model 94 in 30/30.
That rear peep makes it that much more effective. The 30-30 is a good 200 yard gun, good to 300 yards if you have the rainbow trajectory doped in. I prefer the Marlin levers, but the M94 is the slickest, sleekest of the medium powered lever guns out there. In 22 levers, the Browning gets the nod, but I wouldn't trade my Marlin 39, Mounty for one.

Had the old Marlin, but opted for 35 Rem vs the 30-30.
