And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? In the late '40s, Ford of Canada allowed Lincoln-Mercury dealers to sell Mercury pickups but only if there wasn't a Ford dealership within a certain distance. The Mercury trucks were built on the Ford Windsor assembly line but had different grilles, chrome trim and paint colours. Ford also sold Monarch and Meteor cars in Canada only. Pontiac sold the Beaumont (a Chevrolet Chevelle) in the '60s in Canada. Al_in_Ottawa
I had a cousin that was stationed in Minot. He found a used 68 Mercury with a 360 CI engine in it. It was in fairly good shape as the previous owner had done a mild frame on restoration and freshened up the engine with a rebuild. He drove it another 14 years. When he retired, he sold it to somebody in the unit he retired from. I only saw it once when he drove it from Minnesota to south GA to store it for a overseas short tour.
