And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Grew up in a house with a noisy metal roof, love sleeping to the sound of rain. Unfortunately, they do leak more often than shingled roofs & leaks are hard to find.
Both comments are inaccurate, except maybe in 19th century buildings with poor maintenance or Home Depot backyard storage sheds.
Crimped, standing seam, 22ga galvanized roof panels installed over an 8" closed cell foam insulation is probably the highest performing roof system in the world. I've been working under one for the past 20 years, designed and built with my own hands in 2006. I've spec'd this very system on hundreds of high end homes and buildings over the past 30 years.
Friend of mine scrapped the bottom of the barrel to come up with the money to install a metal roof when he was in his fifties. He explained that if he installed a normal roof he'd be replacing it just as he retired. No thanks he said.
I am not a big fan of noisy metal roofs.

DeleteNothing like a deep farmers porch on the lee side.
ReplyDeleteThe cheap, off-the-shelf Home Depot window in the dormer is a mis-match to an otherwise very attractive presentation
