And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I know next to nothing about Nepal but I can find it on a map. At least today’s pictures got me to look into the land and it’s history a little. It’s very very old, very complicated, and totally different from anything European, Chinese, or Indian.
Bancaud travelled the far corners of Asia and Asia Minor for over a decade taking pictures of cultures that Westerners are barely aware of. Many of them have not changed much in thousands of years. That’s pretty hard for this American to grasp.
