And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I wonder, Daily Timewaster, did you know that this is the cover to one of my favorite books? 1979 The Man Who Awoke, by Laurence Manning (originally serialized in 1933) very cool sci fi... a scientist who wants to live a really long time, discovers a way to hibernate for a thousand years at a time, something like that... and wakes up now and then from his underground bunker, just to see what the world will be like in the future
