And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Not quite a still life portrait for one can nearly hear the hustle of busy men working toward yhe hope of riches. Yet seen is a monument to the vanity of man. Just as eagerly had they set to the work, they walked away from that forelorn and busted dream. Some gave their best years. Some are still there.
I have hunted in the Sierras in years past. Traversed troublesome ridges and steep ravines. Only to find heavy milled wood beam material, large spools of rusted 1" cable, assorted steel materials. How the heck did they get that stuff way up there? My guess, made of tougher stuff.
In the late 19th century, that was probably an E Ticket ride. Now, not so much.

Mining track. Probably useful when pulling the empty carts uphill, but probably a lot less fun lowering the full ones back down.
