And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I met a man who had been shipwrecked on an island off of Brazil. Alone, it was nine months before rescue. He wore a nine strand monkey fist around an ankle to commerate that time. Said he'd never take it off. He got a tat on the other ankle of the monkey fist.
I've sailed across two oceans, large gulfs and seas, inland waters, the dateline and equator several times. My mind says I'm not done yet. My body says otherwise.
