The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? Even though they are popular in India and surrounding countries, they look incredibly akwad to me, but then again, I've never used one, so there's that.
I used to carry the Cold Steel version gardening, one flick of the wrist and cut off small to medium branches. Youtube has an old movie you should watch "King of the Kyber Rifles". Gurkha attack at night with only their khukuris.
