And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Worst injury I ever saw in person was a lathe with a improperly adjusted chip breaker. A long string of metal came off the carbide cutter, landed in a pile near dudes leg and caught into the chuck and pulled it all back around the chuck and filleted this guy's calf like it was an overcooked sausage
In one shop there was a spot in the ceiling where a chuck came off the locks and spun up into the roof. No one got hurt. But phew. Always check the chuck locks when starting shift. Apparently the some guy switched chucks and never got back to tightening them up and went right to work.
My ex ran my lathe while I was at work. Cuts took 15 mins and she would set the timer and would go out to the shop and reset for the next cut. Saved me a lot of time.
When I was at college a lad in our class with long hair, much the same as hers, leant over the lathe he was using and his hair fell forward and got caught up in the chuck. Ripped his scalp off. Took a while to clean the machine up. Took longer for his injuries to get sorted.
Where in the hell are her safety glasses!!?
ReplyDeleteOn top of her Head
Deletemy fist thought as well.
DeleteChips and eyes don't mix well.
She's too pretty to be blind, or to wear an eyepatch.
Well, that would give us both a chance....
Delete"that would give us both a chance" , good one. But I'm sure you all know
Deletethat lathe is not even on. It's just picture of a girl pretending to work.
The lathe most definitely is running.
DeleteThe jaws of the chuck are blurred out and the work next to the tailstock is motion-blurred.
Operating a lathe without eye protection is really stupid.
ReplyDeletefirst thing I noticed, till I scrolled down a little more....
Delete1st thing I thought - safety glasses- stupid person
ReplyDeleteShe's wearing them on TOP of her head.
DeleteNose ring, tats on her head and arms, safety glasses as a fashion statement. She'll need a few more IQ points before she qualifies for a lathe.
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty obvious to me that she is a pretty model who walked up to this non-operating lathe and simply touched a control to have her photo taken.
ReplyDeleteSorry, John, but that lathe is turning. A quick glance past the boobs will see that the chuck is a smear.
DeleteYou made it past her boobs?
DeleteAnne 8:17 may be gay.
DeleteTits make up for all deficiencies.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she figured they are prominent enough to shield her eyes
ReplyDeleteAlso oblivious to the saying "tits in the wringer"
ReplyDeleteNot just nose ring. This one is a 'how to lose an eye or finger' poster. Pretty clearly doesn't know how to run a lathe.
ReplyDelete#1 There is a reason that machinists don't wear rings. If caught it will strip meat off the bone like a well cooked pork rib.
DeleteHow many girls have you ever seen running a lathe? I’m 65 and I’ve never seen one.
DeleteYou've heard the term "Tit caught in the Wringer"? Hot chip to the nippleage is worse.

DeleteAt least she is not wearing a dangly necklace.
ReplyDeleteSomeone let his old lady in the machine shop and took a photo, move along.

ReplyDeleteMy job was to over seer the Horz boring mill. Took hours to make a hole. I would run the power hack saw while watching over the other.

ReplyDeleteYou guys moan and groan about all of that stuff....I'll gladly help that lass to learn "proper" safety protocol.
ReplyDeleteI noticed the lack of eye protection, too, but my first thought was "nice tits!"
ReplyDeleteYes. The lack of protective eyewear was the second thing I noticed.
