And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
In the 1990s, I went to Milan for about a week. I seem to remember that glass ceiling, but not that floor.
I tried to go to La Scala, but of course it was closed for reconstruction... I did notice on the sign out front that the most expensive ticket was about 50 bucks, with most tickets being under about 10. Seems the Italians actually want people to enjoy the finer sides of life.
