  2. Au contraire: The first-ever perfect gunnery score during the U.S. Air Force’s "Gunsmoke" competition was achieved in 1989. During the air-to-ground strafe event in Nevada, Capt. Angus Simpson, an A-10 Thunderbolt II pilot from Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, scored a perfect 200 out of 200 rounds in the target panel.

  3. Ask any grunt calling for air support if these guys can hit targets. Can't ask the bad guys on the receiving end, no one left to answer.

  7. The gun is mounted so that the barrels fire when they are on the centerline of the aircraft so the recoil doesn't cause the aircraft to yaw. Since the gun is so low the nose of the A10 wants to drop from the recoil so there is a stability system to prevent that.
