When Jaguar knew how to build cars

  1. I dunno. Back in the early 70s, I had a 1964 XKE; beautiful car! BUT, it was in the shop half the time. (And a mechanic who could work on Jags was expensive.) Still, it was a beauty and a joy to drive ... when it was running.

  2. As Jay Leno says that was when governments allowed car makers to do what they wanted. Regulations in '66 didn't allow for faired in headlights and the bumpers had to be raised so the turn signals were relocated below them on the E-type. '74 introduced the 5mph bumper which resulted in the rubber bumper MGB, which ruined the looks.

  3. Even was a character in a movie! In "A New Leaf" starring Walther Matthau, a running gag was the playboys sports car that broke down every time he looked at it.
I always wondered if the scriptwriter or director owned a Jag?
