And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I've never heard of that gemstone before. My favorite color is blue, but Topaz never did it for me (too light). I might try and look around for it. Thank you for posting this.
The color blue is somewhat rare in nature. In books of antiquity the word is not to be found, but other colors are. There’s a great Radiolab podcast episode titled Colors, it’s an easy google find, and the last 1/3 of the hour-long podcast is devoted to the color blue - or lack thereof
Have cut kilos of that "watch face blue" lapis over time, beautiful colors of blue, never tire of looking at it.

ReplyDeleteIts not really a gemstone like topaz. It is opaque. Lapis lazuli. Basically a very attractive rock.
