And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
The scaredest I ever was while camping in the back country was when I heard a bull moose calling for a mate in the middle of the night, and over the course of a couple hours he got closer and closer to my camp. I can sleep through wolves howling (in the distance, preferably), but a horny moose in the neighborhood makes me nervous.
Bulls are usually pretty pad back up in NH and Maine, but in the rut they can get pretty crazy, mostly they pay you never mind, the cows are on the skittish side but never seem to be any kind of aggressive, they usually rather be off in a quiet spot solitary mostly, been surprised couple times popping them up deep in the timber where its cool and no flies to bother them. Lot of good wholesome meat on a full grown adult, all of it tender, excellent grilled, ground into burger its first rate, mooseball spaghetti is a family favorite.
They are much more dangerous on a highway after dark...They are very hard to see and tend to roll over your vehicle and flatten roofs and people. Sometimes they walk away afterward. A very tough animal, but as said before, delicious.
Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat!
ReplyDeleteBullwinkle is about to take one in the brisket and become roasts, steaks and stew. MMMM, moose.
