And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
There is a bar in Naha, Japan that has about that many records. If you buy a drink, you can request a song or two. If the owner likes your selection, he'll play it, otherwise he'll tell you to pick something else.
Having had a moderate sized vinyl collection for decades (mostly some of my most favorite albums) and having decided to sell them all at a yard sale a few years ago, my thoughts on this monster collection is: Why?
Yep. I gradually replaced mine with CD's. Sure is a lot less bulky. But I agree that depending on internet services to give you access to music you already paid for is insane. Talk about critical dependency and supply chain issues.
You can see some of the shelves are sagging which means they are resting on top of some of the records causing them to warp and ruining them. Not a good way to store records.
Wow ! My Dad (RIP) has a large 78 rpm classical LP collection, but the illustrated is at least twice as large.

Let's see the titles first.

ReplyDeleteYep. Why? You can listen to any song or album on the internet.
DeleteUntil the company decides it no longer needs you and cuts off (or raises) your subscription price until they feel enough has been paid. For Now ...
DeleteYour own personal collection to me makes sense. To a minimalist, probably not but that is how they choose to roll.

DeleteA member of the Columbia Record Club.
ReplyDeleteThose 3/4" boards are NOT holding up all them albums.
ReplyDeleteAnybody that's carried a few boxes of albums knows that.

DeleteUsed to have one about a third that sized ... had to sell it at auction after the divorce.
ReplyDeleteKnew a gal in high school whose Dad was the music critic for the LA Times ... He had that many.
ReplyDeleteNeed to see the titles. If no good blues or jazz in that collection, they might as well be childrens songs.
ReplyDeleteI'm partail to my collection. It's not as vast, but a pair of McIntosh tube amls and complementary Bose 901s, i can sit and enjoy. The neighbors too.
Good luck getting friends to help you move.....
