    1. Computers. The modern fly-by-wire fighters are essentially on some degree of autopilot all of the time. The F-35 has thrust controlled roll, pitch and yaw when in hoover plus up and down.

  2. This is a perfect example of a federal government boondoggle. It should never have been approved.

    1. Technology must progress; when we entered WW2, we were getting killed by the Japanese Zero until planes such as the P38, Hellcat, Corsair, and Mustang were part of our arsenal. But we must also be diligent with such development budgets

  3. Can't imaging that jet blast does a tarmac or carrier deck any good! Back in the day, F-4's, F-1's5 and F-16's departing USAF bases in Germany had a restricted departure angle for exactly that reason.
