And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? A captured German DFS 230 assault glider rests on a North African airfield after falling into Allied hands, 1942
Jackie Coogan, (Uncle Fester) was a glider pilot during WW2 with the USAAF. Served in the Pacific landing special forces behind enemy lines at night. Let that sink in for a moment........ Landing a glider at night on a Pacific island.
Canvas and 1 X 2s - a BB could pass through. I knew a (great) guy who made 4 (European) glider landings in WWII. 65 years later ( he passed at 102) I mentioned St. Mare Eglise and the trooper who had to play dead when his chute caught on a church spire there on D-Day. He matter of factly said, "Oh, yeah, I walked by that church the next morning". When history taps you on your shoulder....
Nine troops and pilot, a 'close knit team'.
