And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I rode a bike for a few years way back back when...but it's still hard to feel sorry for a guy when something happens accidentwise, seeing so many who seem to have a death request.
Speaking of motorcycles,, here's a case involving a Kia minivan driver's road rage against a biker at 50mph in Beaverton OR. The 21 y/o biker was lucky to have survived. https://youtu.be/_K13_p5rwEc
If you are breaking the law, STOP. It is one of the most common and stupidest arguments for selfish behaviour. Especially combining Speed & lane splitting; "I don't care the posted "SPEED LIMIT" go faster if I am behind you."
How many times do we hear of broken mirrors, running from police, car damage?
Not to mention road take overs, quads/dirt bikes and "sideshows" "where else are we supposed to do this..."
As for the recent Beaverton incident, no apologies for the van driver, but what was going on before?
Back in '23 a motorcyclist killed himself on a stretch of road I ride every day. He hit a school bus, in the side. How fast must he have been going die? It is posted at 40. No turns - good/clear visibility 5 lanes.
Riders Rule 1. Stay in YOUR lane. Do not make many lane changes, do not cross double yellows. Rule 2. If you are 15 mph over the speed of traffic you are too fast. They cannot tell in their mirrors that you are approaching.
I had two motorcycles. It is just a matter of time before you go down due to being hit by a car even if you are great at 360 viewing and doing all laws. This idiot is going to get killed riding like this.
I went down the first time because a girl on a 10 speed pulled in front of me as I was crossing an intersection on a green light and it was go down or kill the girl. I ended up driving into the asphalt and went another 60 yards up the road on my side after my motorcycle flipped. My foot was broken and ligaments shredded while my shoulder was dislocated.
I think you did the right thing. Your suffering by no fault of your own is far, far better than hitting the girl.
Way back, many moons ago I came very close to hitting a young girl pedestrian. I was so shaken that I parked for some time contemplating what might have been. This caused me to miss a very important meeting. These many years later, when I think of that moment, like now, I shudder.
Watch out for motorcyclists….
ReplyDeleteEspecially the stoopid ones.
DeleteWhy?
DeleteAnyone who drives like that deserves a quick death, and it should be legal to hunt them from one's car, with guns or bumpers.

Yeah. We had a conversation at the state ABATE meeting yesterday about that. Seems a lot of bikers are being targeted.
DeleteDrives like a bicyclist
ReplyDeleteIdiot.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't even stop to help if he crashed, last time I did I had nightmares for months. Gut was in more pieces than the motorcycle.
ReplyDeleteAnd they wonder why so many drivers hate them.
ReplyDelete"He died doing what he loved".
ReplyDeleteHA! On his tomb stone!
DeleteThe video above appears sped up.
ReplyDeleteAmazing what a couple 16 ounce Red Bulls and a pint of whiskey can do.
