And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
that looks a lot like my old buddy Slim. he was a roadie ridgeback od 110 pounds easy. we had 2 cats at that same time. but one of them followed Slim everywhere he could. the other tried to play with Slim, but Slim was not a dog to be played with like that above. Slim was a very good dog too, my neighbors still tell Slim stories. he loved small kids, any small kids. he just thought it was his job to watch over them. they used to call me to "come get your dog" as he wouldn't let them bring in THEIR kids at times. he just wanted to play with little kids. one of the 'Moms' told me later on, she never worried about her girls when Slim was out in the yard with them.
My sister had a second-hand border collie. Not sure how she came to have him, but Flip the Wonder Dog, came with a story of how he used to sneak out during the day, when the recess bell rang at the school, across a busy street, and play with the elementary school kids, and then go home again when recess was over. Twice a day, for months. He was always in the yard behind the fence when previous owners came home from work. They found out about his double life when one of the parents followed him home from school one day, thinking he was a stray.

ReplyDeleteThere are people who question whether cats have the intelligence to do something like that.
