  2. In the non-fiction department, give these a try:
'The XIT Ranch Of Texas: And The Early Days Of The Llano Estacado'
    and
'A Texas Cowboy: or, Fifteen Years on the Hurricane Deck of a Spanish Pony'
    by Charlie Siringo

If you're into the history of the Old West, you'll love 'em. The story of the XIT Ranch is incredible.

  6. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance by Dorothy Johnson, a classic by a legendary writer.
Who says women can't write westerns? She was a professor at U of Mont when I was there for a term.

    1. Some of the best episodes of the TV series 'Gunsmoke' were written by
Kathleen Hite. She won several awards in her career and was CBS' first female staff writer.
