And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
#1 That beach is on Hearst Ranch. Big Sur The ranch is known for strict prosecution of all trespassers. County sheriff and Hearst security see to that.
That beach may have public access now, as 13 miles of coastline was transferred to the state as part of an 80,000+ acre, $95 million conservation easement over 10 years ago.
Elmo, I did not know of that. With the purchase of the Jack Ranch, Hearst lands ran unbroken from the coast to about sixty miles inland. My friend was foreman of the Jack. Cecil Queen, a man among men with a gracious heart. I forget exactly, I think he stood 6'10". Just a fantastic gentleman.
This seems to be a "moment of sanity in the sea of chaos" that we all find ourselves in in this day and age. You never fail to give us that moment with your "Open Road" segment. Thank you CW. You are a scholar and a gentleman.
Once while growing up, my old man got a ticket on I-95, drunk off his ass standing on the seat of his 66 Electra glide. When the cop stopped him he said he was trying to touch the lights on the underpasses.

ReplyDeleteDo wonder where most of these places are, appreciate when the blanks get filled in.
So wonderful. Thank you for sharing. I especially love the rainbows and the dogs.
ReplyDelete#3, that tent on the beach like that? Staged, no one is really going to set up a camp that close to the surf.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the one with the dog.
ReplyDelete#9 Reminds me of my Dad. His shadow was always in the photo.

I'm with Zimmy... CW is a scholar, gentleman and a truly good person.
DeleteThanks, guys! Someone told me the other day that I was a "regular guy." I was complimented.
DeleteThere's a reason a lot of military around the world used Rovers. Wish I could afford an old Defender. 95 or 110
ReplyDeleteI gotta say, a lot of beautiful things. Including the “cowgirl” leaning the Ford. She does not look comfortable at all.
