UK and Eire from the ISS

  1. I realize that it was probably historically impossible, but I always thought that putting the Capitol of the British Empire (or just the United Kingdom) on the Isle of Man would be both convenient for all concerned, and nicely symbolic. Very centralized, easily accessible, and presumably easily defended.

That said, I know nothing about the climate or topography of the Isle, so there might be practical reasons why that would've been a bad idea.

  2. The UK sort of looks like someone with a large nose, very long chin, and wearing a funny hat.

    Thanks for the post.

  3. Easy to see how the Nazis thought Calais was the target.

  4. Global warming will turn the whole place into an unsustainable desert...with giant sand worms charging through the dunes.

  5. The UK in the center of the picture, and Europe off to the side. Tré apropos.
