And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

I wonder how many millennial could tell you what a Hudson was?
One of the best sleepers I ever saw was a 1949 or 1950 Hudson with a 427 big block Chevy in it. Was heavy, but the big block made it run like a scalded cat. The owner made some money in street racing from those who were unwise enough to race him back in the early 70's.
I owned a 51 Hudson 2dr sedan. 6cyl 262. It was not a heavy car. I raced and beat many a v8 back in the day.. this was in the early 60's; my first car...
When I was in high school, mid 70's, the Father of a buddy of mine had two Hudson stock cars he raced in the 50's sitting in his garage. Step down Hudson's, straight 8's with four Strombergs. Both restored as new. Wondering what ever happened to them.
in the late 60's and early 70's i would see a Hudson pick up running around down town San Jose, Ca. i would tell people about it over the years, but no one believed me.
The first car I remember ever being in was Dad's Hudson in the early 1950's. We drove hundreds of miles in it every summer. No safety belts. Lots of bugs on the windshield. Service at garages. It was a pale mint green. Mom drove a little Studebaker.
Though it dates me, when I was a young boy, we had a Hudson Jet. I think that my dad bought it used.
ReplyDeleteI had an uncle who had an early 50's Hornet Coupe. It became a weekend car in the early 70's. It had a 6 cylinder but it was a fast car.
ReplyDeleteA lot more after watching Cars....
ReplyDeleteThat was where I first heard of it, and I'm Gen X. Just not much of a gearhead.
DeleteHudson a car? Heck most Millennials don't even know who Rock Hudson was.
