Good way to shoot yourself in the leg (which is what I'd likely do)

  1. Dang, that is some John Wick movie stuff there. I'm with you, with my present training, there would likely be a miss or AD ...

  2. Slow is sure.
    Sure is fast.

Note well, he's not waving that pistol around.

  3. Lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of dry practice there. He knows exactly what he's doing with every movement.

  4. Always handy when the bad guys don't move or fight back.

  5. You don't train to get in a gun fight with 3-4 guys surrounding you.... that's a recipe for failure. You train to see the trap before it's spring and avoid being put in that situation. Once you are surrounded that way you are dead....even if you take a couple with you.

  6. Once the weapon is out, you don't need to put (or pull) it back as fast as you drew it, refer especially the move commencing at around 14s, when, at the end of the string he moves his RH and pistol way back under his RH jacket tail as if about to holster it, but doesn't. It's a good way to AD yourself in the foot, the lower trunk or down the side of your leg.

And moving your weak hand after the first shot(s) to cover the slide isn't necessary when you might reasonably be expecting more action as implied by the fact that he's continuing to look around for new or additional threats. That just means you have to move your weak hand back to the proper supportive grip again. Otherwise speed and targeting is impressive.

I suspect Miculek would suggest also that a hunched posture is now no longer appropriate, as it is less natural than a straight, front-facing upright posture which requires no "adoption" of a totally new stance away from the familiar normal which is always a good thing as it comes (or is) already immedately to hand.
