And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I spent a couple weeks hiking those mountains some years ago. Future wife and I would load up with rolls and pastries from a local baker, deli meats from a local butcher, chocolate and wine...and then head out for a day climbing glaciers. Our hiking took us through high alpine meadows covered with ripe wild strawberries. We would shelter and eat under rock ledges as the weather would change almost instantly from wind, rain and fog to sunny, blue skies. A panorama of God's power and beauty laid out before us.
