Smart power, Democrat style

Not only have the Russians granted whistleblower Snowden asylum, but supposedly Facebook Russia has offered him a job. They probably see anyone who outs the secrets of the regime as a hero.

Via Brietbart:

"Obama spokesman Jay Carney said the White House is "extremely disappointed" that Russia granted Edward Snowden asylum. Early this morning, Snowden left the Moscow airport after he was granted temporary asylum by Russia.

Carney also stated that Snowden isn't a whistleblower or a dissident and described the situation as 'not a positive development' for U.S.-Russia relations. The move undermines Russia's record of law enforcement cooperation with the U.S.
The White House is considering cancelling a planned fall summit between Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"We are extremely disappointed that the Russian government would take this step despite our very clear and lawful requests in public and private that Mr. Snowden be expelled and returned to the United States," said White House spokesman Jay Carney."

So Jay, what is the regime going to do about it, other than threaten to cancel a fall summit?   Nothing is what.

Smart power isn't looking so smart now, is it Democrats?  However, the goal with the progressives really isn't to exert "smart power," but to reduce our nation's power and influence to a minimum, and at that job they are very successful.   I shudder to think what sort of degraded condition our reputation and influence will be in three and a half years, let alone what will happen should Hillary get elected.

  1. Never thought I would see the day when I would cheer for Russia over the US, but that day has come and past.

  2. Remember when Obama was campaigning in 2008? Wasn't he supposed to be the hot shot negotiator who would talk to all our enemies and make the rest of the world love us?
