Via Lloyd Kahn, the only way to describe this thing is a "contraption," but a pretty cool one at that. I'd bet that they could use this in New England right about now.

I saw something like this in an old popular mechanics or popular science. It was supposed to be for snow, ice, marsh, with short trips across hard surfaced roads.
