And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Over the past hour it's gotten insanely smokey here from that Paradise fire. That was fast.
Not where I am, but I would want to be living in the hills somewhere with brush or trees close to the house. It's the end of the dry season, there's been some wind, and add dry brush and steep terrain, and things get out of control real fast. Plus, here in California, the greenies fight to prevent needed forest management with fires like this in mind, so they get really hard to fight. It's no secret that they happen every year, so it would be more than prudent to pre cut fire lines, clear brush and such, but apparently that is a no no. Until that changes, we'll just have more of them.
I hope you aren't in danger in your area. One fire seems to spawn others.
