And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
We had that happen in our yard in Florida. Lightening hit a tree and it was like a bomb went off. We had tree pieces IN our screened porch, so much for the screen. They were on the roof and all the way on the other side of the yard. We are on two acres... There is a lot of power in those bolts.
Saw this happen to a tree near where I was camped in VA years ago. Chunks of the tree 200ft from the trunk. Splinters that weighed a few ounces stuck in the dirt an inch deep. I would have hated to have been within 100 ft of it when it went off.
