And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Wow!
Watch the roof of this parking garage flex while youths party above. Dang! That is not safe!
From the Feral Irishman.

Check out this Halloween lobster at the New England Aquarium which sports a color variation known as a "split," found in one in 50 million (estimate scientists - how do they come up with these numbers?).
That is one weird looking critter.
It was recently caught near Beverly, Massachusetts.
The music, by the way, on this video is awful - turn the computer volume off altogether.
Found here.
Hey Irish, does this look familiar??
This amazing vision was photographed by solar physicist David Hathaway at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
This apparition is almost certainly connected to hurricane Sandy. The core of the storm swept well north of Alabama, but Sandy's outer bands did pass over the area, leaving behind a thin haze of ice crystals in cirrus clouds. Sunlight shining through the crystals produced a variety of ice halos.
There are two sun dogs, a 22o halo, a parahelic circle, an upper tangent arc, and a parry arc.
Atmospheric optics expert Les Cowley comments on the Sandy-ice halo link: "Over the last few days there have been spectacular halo displays around the edge of Sandy from New England to Alabama. Hathaway's image like many others shows several very rare halo arcs, an upper Lowitz, helic and Parry supralateral."
Wow!
The largest circulation newspaper in Nevada just published this:
The largest circulation newspaper in Nevada just published this:
"The Obama administration sat by doing nothing for seven hours that night, ignoring calls to dispatch help from our bases in Italy, less than two hours away. It has spent the past seven weeks stretching the story out, engaging in misdirection and deception involving supposed indigenous outrage over an obscure anti-Muslim video, confident that with the aid of a docile press corps this infamous climax to four years of misguided foreign policy can be swept under the rug, at least until after Tuesday’s election.
. . . .
Not only did the White House do nothing, there are now reports that a counterterrorism team ready to launch a rescue mission was ordered to stand down.
The official explanation for the inadequate security? This administration didn’t want to “offend the sensibilities” of the new radical Islamic regime which American and British arms had so recently helped install in Libya.
The official explanation for why Obama administration officials watched the attack unfold for seven hours, refusing repeated requests to send the air support and relief forces that sat less than two hours away in Italy? Silence.
. . . .
This administration is an embarrassment on foreign policy and incompetent at best on the economy – though a more careful analysis shows what can only be a perverse and willful attempt to destroy our prosperity. Back in January 2008, Barack Obama told the editorial board of the San Francisco Chronicle that under his cap-and-trade plan, “If somebody wants to build a coal-fired power plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them.” He added, “Under my plan … electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.” It was also in 2008 that Mr. Obama’s future Energy Secretary, Steven Chu, famously said it would be necessary to “figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe” – $9 a gallon.
Yet the president now claims he’s in favor of oil development and pipelines, taking credit for increased oil production on private lands where he’s powerless to block it, after he halted the Keystone XL Pipeline and oversaw a 50 percent reduction in oil leases on public lands.
These behaviors go far beyond “spin.” They amount to a pack of lies. To return to office a narcissistic amateur who seeks to ride this nation’s economy and international esteem to oblivion, like Slim Pickens riding the nuclear bomb to its target at the end of the movie “Dr. Strangelove,” would be disastrous.
Candidate Obama said if he couldn’t fix the economy in four years, his would be a one-term presidency.
Mitt Romney is moral, capable and responsible man. Just this once, it’s time to hold Barack Obama to his word. Maybe we can all do something about that, come Tuesday."
Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is the way the press should have been treating this abomination of an administration all along. From Fast and Furious, to Benghazi, the people who are responsible for the last four years of disaster should be given this sort of public excroriation so they are never voted into a position of responsibility or power again.
Yet Obama will get the votes of nearly half of Americans in this election.
Over at Zero Hedge, they have an informative article up about whether the supposedly successful New GM, otherwise known as Government Motors, is really successful, or whether they are only creating the appearance of success by forcing their dealers to swallow inventory.
Looks like it's the latter.
"For a few months there, we were worried that GM may have actually found a (government-funded) natural subprime buyer of its vehicles after the company managed to keep its channel stuffing in check for several months. Those fears ended today with the company's October car sales report, according to which GM sold 4.7% more cars, or 42,759 in absolute terms (from 153,005 to 195,764) in October than September, below expectations of a 7.8% increase. So far so good. What however will hardly get any mention from Government Motors cheerleaders is that GM auto inventory at dealers as of October 31 was a record 739,034 (a massive 98 days of supply), an increase of 49,700 from October's 689,334. In other words, the entire incremental rise in sales, and then some, was due to the firm stuffing dealers with even more inventory than they can possibly handle!"
Full disclosure: one of the family's daily drivers is a GMC, and it's been a great car so far at 140,000 miles.
The Tatler found these signs on someone's yard out in Southern California.
The stylized Obama sign on the left seemed somehow familiar. Like Mussolini familiar. Where do these Progressives get off imitating dictators and fascists (literally in this case) and thinking everyone else won't notice?
This impulse to totalitarianism, conscious or not in this person's case, should be worrisome to all of us. If Obama had not been so lazy and slow, we might be dealing with a much bigger problem. A man with the focused drive to dominate, like Mussolini, supported by idiots like this guy with the lawn sign, might really overcome the political inertia that most people have and destroy our republic. Vigilance really must be eternal, and we should all consider the close call with Obama to be a wake up warning.
