And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
And the majority of Canadians live within 100 miles (or 160 Km) of the US border. Why is that? One would think that they would scatter as far from it as possible.
Canadia isn't filled with frontiersmen, trappers, adventurers, etc now. It's filled with people who enjoy the benefits of civilization, like food supplies, electricity, health care, government benefits, etc. This is not the 19th century, when your immigrants came to your country looking to brave the wild frontier for land.
Isn't Mexico also below the southernmost point of Canada ? Seems Mexico gets forgotten a lot. I mean, some go on about the American Indians losing their land, but the Mexicans owned a whole lot of those now southern states, states with good old Mexican names like Nevada, California, Texas, Arizona. Seems to me either the Mexicans were the first to do the genocide thing, or that the Mexicans were already there and the European immigrants (read White people) took it off them by force. Not that I am any sort of expert on American history, but maybe what I was taught living outside the USA was different that that taught inside the states. You know, whitewash and all that
