  1. Arizona, after sunset, in spring before the saguaro flowers bloom, near Apache Junction east of Phoenix, Lost Dutchman State Park, with the Flatiron dacite dome above to the left. There's no place just like that place anywhere near that place, so that must be the place. As far as deserts go, it's lush and scenic like this picture, and the people build their houses right up to the public lands boundaries. It's nice, as long as the water keeps flowing.
