Long dangling hair is a big NO-NO when shooting, lest hair be snagged by reciprocating bolt, by magazine insertion, by one or another projection on the gun (scopes, red dot sight, flashlight, iron sight, &c.), by sling swivels or by the sling itself. And when that hair gets snagged, then acting to free it invites dangerous postures of the gun.
