And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
If that truly is Roman, look at the artistic verisimilitude, and note that there wouldn't be artistic skill like that for a thousand years after Rome fell to the barbarian hordes. I know, they want us to call it Early Medieval and Medieval, or Early Middle Ages or Late Antiquity, and all the other terms to put a gloss on what it really truly was: the European Dark Ages. Keep polishing that turd, historians.
