  2. This is a Cecropia moth (Hyalophora cecropia), the largest moth native to North America, boasting a wingspan of 5 to 7 inches.

    The adult moths are harmless and do not feed; they live only about one to two weeks, focusing entirely on mating.

    They are found across the eastern half of the United States and Canada, typically in hardwood forests.

  3. Got a few pupae ready to emerge sometime next month. Hopefully a couple of females to attract more.

  5. We used to find their cocoons and keep them in a jar until they hatched. That was in Denver in the 60s and 70's.
