  1. Well, I would gladly go camping in that set-up.

  3. So long as you don't get out of second gear it can pull it without much trouble. Had a VW bug as a teenager and used it to pull a ski boat to the lake during the summer. The boat was longer than the VW. Usually had quite an audience when launching and loading the boat on the ramp.

  4. If you don't go crazy with weight in the trailer.

  5. Desert Camper - cool ! That is one way to getting an enclosed trailer in the boonies - work great on a beach as well !

Does anyone else recall the trailer model that installed like a 5th wheeler on a roof secured stud on a Volkswagon Beetle ? It allowed the Beetle to turn 360 while engaged with trailer for ultimate mobility. Watching it pulled on film was entertaining.

  6. Dad mounted a subframe (he built it) under his bug to get a secure mount for a trailer ball. Then he got a set of dollies to hold the weight of the 20 foot camp trailer tongue. Eighteen wheelers used to pass him on the uphill grades trying to see what was pulling the trailer. He made it from Nevada to Montana with no problems.
