And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Natural gas. When this was part of the Soviet Union, the Russians decided the safest thing to do was burn off the gas seeping out of the ground, so they lit it on fire assuming it would burn out in a couple weeks. Still going strong!
Still couple deep mines burning here in West by God Virginia, can't flood them out, too many leak paths. Kind of like the smell. Hard things to put out. Wasn't there a really big mine fire over there one time, got out of control.
