And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
One of my son's best friends just finished USAF UPT and got assigned to KC-135's. He wanted fighters but I pointed out to him that every one of those officers making those assignments have had their very lives dependent on that tanker at one time or another. Who do you think they give that job to?
Tankers (at least the -135) go to the bottom of the class (KC-10 and now probably the KC-46 are a different story, those went to the top of the class that didn't want fighters). The only thing lower is executive transport (C-21 back in the day) which was the equivalent of being told you were going back through pilot training again. The NKAWTG (no kicking a$$ without tanker gas), though valid, is the equivalent of giving them a participation trophy.
