And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Real or not.... I cannot get my mind around the differing shadows on the back of the rover surfaces. Some surfaces where there are shadows are highly visible. Some are blacked out. Any ideas?
Light is reflecting off the ground and other rover surfaces, providing some illumination to the shadowed side of the rover. The wheel fenders reflect light pretty well as they are (like most of the manmade surfaces) white so the sun does not make them too hot - there is no convection to cool surfaces on the moon.
Mythbusters covered this, and like anon 352 said, the fenders etc reflected alot of light. Notice how darkest area are tires on left side, back mean while front tire on right tire is dimly visible. Some light even making it thru mesh tire.
Jim Irwin came to speak at a Prayer Breakfast at the Gila Bend Air Force Aux Field in 1980 and we junior Airmen got to meet and speak with him in person. He was a thoughtful and benevolent character and it was an honor to meet someone from the small club of moon walkers. RIP, Astronaut.
