And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
My immediate thought as well. These aren't a craftsman's tools. Some 'artiste' decorated them and found a 'collector'. They could probably be resurrected though. Betcha they're decent old steel. Not modern alloy (which will beat the socks off the old Sheffield/crucible stuff), but probably a good tool steel nonetheless. BTW- put good personal handles on 'em, that match your grip, not those blasted one size fits nobody carrots.
