  1. I'm not sure if it was routine and on every flight, but there were times they'd roll over like that for a camera farther out to take pictures of the critical heat shield to make sure they hadn't lost too many tiles.

      I meant to add, but we don't know who or what took that picture.

    2. After Columbia, they did a flip on approach to the ISS in order to do an inspection of the tiles. That's likely where/when this picture was taken.
      If they weren't going to ISS, they'd use the camera on the boom to inspect as much as possible.
