And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? Gerd Froebe and Harold Sataka horsing around, 1964
Two veterans from a 1929 musical originating I believe in Berlin Called ThreePenny Opera became Bond villains. One was Gert Froebe. Who was the other? Also a song most popularized later in English sung by first by Louis Armstrong then Bobby Darin came from that musical. Which one?
Unforgettable line: 'I expect you to DIE!' (Goldfinger)
ReplyDeleteName the other movie that Sean Connery was in with Gert Frobe
ReplyDeleteThe Longest Day
DeleteI call it "The Longest Movie".
DeleteAnother move that Gert Frobe did based on an Ian Fleming book was Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with Dick van Dyke.
DeleteThat was an "Odd Job"
ReplyDeleteNot his double, Random Task ??
DeleteI can still hear the theme song, trumpet blast then Shirley Bassey vocals.
ReplyDeleteShe walked into the studio and just nailed it on the first or second take.
DeleteLike Goldfinger was an Ex.
Say, for accuracy, that’s Sakata, not Sataka.
ReplyDeleteI had heard that at the time of the filming Gerd Froebe was not fluent in English. He had to memorize the words and their pronunciation.

ReplyDeleteThe song was 'Mack the Knife' (Mackie Messer, auf Deutsche), also done by Frank Sinatra.
DeleteThreepenny Opera is Die Dreigroschenoper, auf Deutsche.
Yes! And Lotte Lenya ( mentioned by name in the English versions of Mack The Knife (added by Satchmo) played Rosa Klebb in From Russia With Love
