And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
When I was about 7 or 8 I was on a road trip in Nevada with my dad and uncle. We were on a twisty, up and down road in the desert and I asked them why didn't they just make the road straight. It was so obvious to a young mind and I imagine that road has been straightened out by now.
I love those long open stretches of Icelandic road with the mountains in the distance. Small island, but when you're in it the landscape is huge and makes you feel insignificant in comparison.
