  1. Nice. Windbreak from every direction, and at least partial shade in the back yard.

    1. My thoughts exactly. Wright's designs always have a leak issue. I grew up in the town where he had his Wisconsin studio and classroom. The biggest expense in maintaining his home and building is the constant leak control. if it wasn't rain or snow melt, it was wind coming around the windows.

    2. I am curious, it the leak problem with the design or the builder.

    3. The more I read about the problems with FLW buildings the more I wonder why so many people consider him some kind of architectural genius.

    4. More myth than legend.

      Those that can, do.
Those that can't, talk about it.

  4. for Tiny Timm: Spring Green / Arena area, Talizan or some darn thing. It was rotting away from moisture & badly needed repair. I grew up on the hills over looking the WI river valley.

  5. The guy sure designed cool stuff. Really like his prairie motives.

  6. Did he use the golden rule in the design?

  9. Got to visit Taliesin West to see a friend, student there in winter of1979. Students lived in the desert in a dwelling of their own construct or added onto an existing ex-students dwelling. I remember a rope across the entrance to keep snakes out.
They didn't just study architecture, they were schooled on how to live in the world, cooking, housekeeping. Then in the summer they went to the sister school in Wisconsin.
