    2. It is such a shame that lazy no count participants cannot take the time or make the effort to identify themselves instead of being a "keyboard warrior."

  6. In art school, they spend a lot of time on figure drawing. An artist's human and animal figures must be correct and proportionate to the smallest of details. I overheard two artists criticizing a 3rd artists work, as saying he doesn't get his figures right. And I liked the painting, until they pointed out what was wrong. Once seen it cannot be unseen, and your works won't sell because you screwed up one time and got a bad rep.

But Picasso! My reply is that you can't be grotesque until you have mastered figures. His figures are perfectly, proportional grotesque. His early year portraits are perfect.

Look at the young man's left hand. Seems a little too large. And milady's décolletage also does not seem quite right, curves where there shouldn't be.

No implied criticism of CW, he does a bang-up job of bringing the best. The picture is a good riff on the classic.

    1. The hand size is due to the lens the photographer choose for this scene. Black and white photography is notorious for this. You can hide a multitude of sins in a riot of color.

  12. was stationed in Italy for a while. the REAL problem was girls as young as 14-15 looked much older and really get your ass in a sling !
had a buddy who ended getting married to one young lass of 17 because she looked like she was 22 or older.
but anyway, those ladies in the north of Italy where great to look at !
more blondes and redheads than you might think.

  13. Youngish Italian and Spanish women seem to me to be much less likely to be fat and much more likely to be well dressed than their North American counterparts. Am I right?
